The installer predates FarCry 1.0 -- it's a bit nasty in there.  We're 
making efforts to change the whole process for 4.0. Not least by moving 
the installer to the project template.. more on all that later in the month.

That said you can tinker about in there trying to make things right:
../farcry_core/admin/install/*

Missing columns might be due to not having run an updater:
../farcry_core/admin/updates/*

The purpose of the updater being to provide an easy way to migrate 
between versions of FarCry -- you shouldn't have to run the updater 
after a fresh install -- but the 3.0/3.01 installer was a bit buggy in 
that regard and needed the updates.

Not much help I know - but it might put you on the right path.
