Hi!
Upgrading isn't possible that easy because this farcry-version is
highly customized (in the core). I've already done very much for
performance.
The site runs a complete web shop. There are tens of thousands of
objects in the database. Obviously this will slow down the database.
Well, I think we've to find a faster hosting partner, I don't think
that there's still much performance improvement space...
Thanks,
Fritz

Fritz,
We're still using Farcry 2.3.
I still have a site or two running FC 2.3 as well :)
We're experiencing so much performance troubles with the
treedata / contentobjectgetmultiple parts, when displaying
the tree. We have about 200 images below the images-node
(in about 30 subfolders). Mostly we get a timeout, when we
switch to this tab.
In FarCry 3.0 the images and files have been moved to the new media
library
(thus if you upgraded this "should" solve your problem). Although,
to be
honest if you only have 200 images in 30 subfolders it should run
fine under
FC 2.3 (making me wonder if something else is at fault here).
Perhaps your
site tree is corrupt. Have you tried repairing the tree using the
detect
and repair tools built into FarCry?
If you plan to upgrade to FC 3.x I strongly suggest using the
latest files
from SVN (branch p300) which is the latest version of FC 3.0.2RC.
You'll
need to run all the updates (/farcry/updates) and update the
application
scope ?updateapp=1 (and don't forget to backup your DB and old
FarCry files
first in case you decide to rollback).
