Geoff If in the end the HTML code generated by what i am doing and by what the system is doing is that same then it shouldnt matter how i am building the forms. The issue as i posted seems to be with the css that is in place for the client side validation, which is all i am really concerned about at this stage as i have my own server side validation happening anyway.
If i was to build a form and try to validate a select box using the tools and tags that come with the application the same outcome would happen, being the client side validation error is not clearing the select box. This is the issue i am raising. unfortunalty in the context of the application i am working on, the drop down needs to be validated. What i dont want to have to do is start messing with the core css files and have to worry about not having them overwritten if an update is released.
