I can add to that... the old UI's are all still in place -- for now. If there is significant demand I could wrap these up in a plugin that would allow them to replace Flex UI as needed. I'd want to have some good arguments for why people can't patch their installations to 7.02. In any event, I think the 7.02 requirement should be a warning rather than a straight block for installation. You can certainly comment out or modify the validation routine to get your install over the edge.
