Hi Guys, I'm doing some work customising a system that's been in place for a long time, where the farcry admin area is used by quite a few people. The client has requested some modifications to the core dmNews type. It seems that the obvious way to do it would be to extend on dmNews with a custom type, add the interface it to a custom tab and take it from there.
Ideally though, to make the change as easy for the users as possible, I'd like to just replace the "Content > News" administration with this new custom admin, without touching any of the other functions of this area. (Media Library, Content Utilities, etc.) I guess I'm just looking to bounce around some ideas on the best way to go about it. I've played with the customadmin.xml file and I can "replace" this area pretty easily, but then it looks like I have to hand-code all the links to the other content functions, meaning that if/when these change in future we'll have to recode. Is there a better way to go about it - some way to just replace the link to the dmNews.cfm file with a link to the custom admin, without impacting the other elements on the content tab?
