There is an updater of sorts. It deals with the change in schema surrounding array tables which is actually a massive change handled automatically. We're not advertising this as a hassle free upgrade because depending on your set up it might not be. However, if you have a plain vanilla install of the CMS then its not going to be too painful an exercise. Your main areas of concern are going to upgrading custom content types, and handling changes in the default location of media assets (ie. images and files).
