refCategories maps categoryIDs to objectIDs of content items (such as events) If you already had the events associated with categories you'll want to check that table as well.

I've created a mapping between the categories in farcry and the department structure in our old system. My question is, are there other tables to consider besides the dmEvents and dmEvents_objectIDs when writing the sql import script. I'm not really sure if my purpose is clear but I'm hoping that some of you with a lot of experience in farcry can help me work out this idea. Long term once the event are in and associated with categories I would create a custom include that would get called in the page templates that would look at the nav node of the page find the corresponding category and display the associated events/news items.
