I believe the the files are uploaded to a web-accessible directory, so there
is no out-of-the-box way of securing them. You can however secure the pages
w/the links to the files.

Subject: [farcry-dev] Securing individual files (FC 4.0.3)

A client is requesting that several of their documents should only be
available to their members (.pdfs, .docs, .xls). Is there a way to secure
these files when they are uploaded to the media library?

I know permissions can be set on specified directories, but haven't seen
anything regarding the security of individual files.
