One of things I've oft wondered about was the separation of profiles and users. They were always intended to be a 1 to 1 relationship, right? So why are the separate? I'm going to be adding some of these fields to my user object in my current project, and it looks like I won't run into any issues provided I don't try and send versioning emails out. The locale stuff should still work fine, and these users won't be logging into the admin site at all. Just curious as to the "why".
