Thanks for the all the suggestions. Since posting, Ive found this free forum provider, which seems to be just the ticket for a free solution.
http://www.freeforums.org/ Whilst I would have liked to go with one of the free cold fusion based solutions as I would then able to host the forums myself and have complete control, the freeforums.org package only requires a quick sign-up to get it up and running....the perfect quick forum integration solution for me on this occasion.
