I had the same issues with the same setup as you have and also shared
hosting etc.

Can you run it locally? If you try this locally does it work?

Then, if it works locally, copy the folder dmImage in images like you
did, are there 3 folders in it?:

SourceImage
StandardImage
ThumbnailImage

I have not resolved this problem myself yet, but i now resolve it by
creating the folders manually.
I think it has something to do with how farcry is setting the folder
paths when it wants to create folders that are not yet there, it's in
that area.

Further i asume that your shared hosting has checked the sandbox
security for your specific homedirectory.

So really try this locally and if it works, copy paste the structure
in your webroot, just to be sure.
