Folks,

I know there are a few people asking for details of tutorials and the
like for FarCry. A kind of Jump Start to using the product platform.
Thought I'd give some feedback on where we are with this, the roadmap
moving forward and so on.

Firstly, there is a great deal of documentation already available. I
acknowledge its spread out and not all that easy to find, especially
in the order that might benefit a beginner. I'm working on bringing
the WIKI into line, and putting things in easy to find places but this
will take a while.

There is an official FarCry Jump Start course, instructor lead and
complete with documentation and code base. This is a commercial
offering available today for larger teams. We hope to start offering
this course later in the year via Adobe Connect in a series of "public
courses" that would be more affordable for smaller teams.

We're working on a couple of sample applications that will be released
as open source, and will endeavour to showcase FarCry 5.0 best
practice. Developers should be able to dissect these applications and
gain insight into how more complex FarCry applications are built. The
first of these is the NearCry blogging platform. If you haven't
already, you might consider downloading this code base and having a
look.

I also have ambitions of writing a "Book of FarCry", available
progressively on the WIKI with a view to being eventually bundled and
sold as an actual publication. But heh, I wouldn't be waiting up for
this one just yet.

All the best,

geoff
