I may be confused by your question, but what i htink you are saying is
that based on the admin users entry to a field you want to set another
fields value.

If i am correct, then you can do this by copying the beforeSave
function from the core type.cfc into your custom type and add your
required code.

You will need to update the app to get teh custom beforeSave to kick-
in.
