Hi, I was wondering if anyone had input on dealing with performance issues with FC and shared hosting providers?
I have a small site I was testing on hostingatoz.com and everything works as I expect (slower than our FC servers here at work, but not terrible). On a good day, clicking the webtop tabs (Overview, Site etc) takes around 8 to 10 seconds to load. Bad day, maybe up to 15 - 20 seconds. However when I try to edit content (even just clicking the name of the object in the navigation tree) can take up to a minute to open. William from HostingAtoZ has been very helpful in tracking down what the problem is, but have been unable to see what the bottleneck is. I have tried FC 4, 5 and 5.1 (nightly build from the 18th of this month). Have also tried MySQL and MSSQL. William even moved the account over to a brand new server they just installed (so bugger all users) and it didn't really help. In fact nothing seems to help improve the performance. Everything else in FC seems to be ok. The frontend of the site is quick (thanks to FC's excellent caching). Has anyone had this problem before and therefore have suggestions on how to improve the performance, or where I should be looking? It's not an important site, but I know FC performs better than this. If I can get to the bottom of it, it might save someone else spending time on the same problem down the track.
