I am working on a proof-of-concept site for my organization which is a publisher of several magazine titles as well as a wide array of online content (with sources, categories, topics, etc.) There are a lot of attributes to keep track of in a structured format and I am looking to combine quite a few of these to be managed via the category tree, but perhaps I'm making this a lot harder than it needs to be?
I've created multiple hierarchies in the FarCry Category tree for my custom type... I'm attempting to leverage different branches in the hierarchy for my content. I have different branches as three disparate fields for this type and need to save the selection for each. I've run into a problem, though, in that the generated scaffolding for updating my type does not properly retain the selected categories in the refCategories table. I'm able to verify the values being saved to the content record itself, but on update for each field the refCategories references are cleared out. Is there an existing way to deal with this problem? I'm just wondering if I'm missing something, or if there's a better way.
