I am not a flex expert, i assume everything is possible if you know how tot develop it. Don't see options for that already 1,2,3, but again that might be a piece of cake when you're a flex expert.
What you could do is write your own dmImage type or extend the core one to use multiple image fields and therefore also the option to use multiple categories or assign the same image to multiple categories. Or do whatever you want.
