Ok, i don't know how it's setup and specialized etc, so bit hard to say from here, but if a untouched core type works as it should, so if dmNavigation is untouched and is working properly, then there must be something missing.
You might could setup a new project, check dmNews if it shows correctly and then compare settings. I really don't know where to start debugging this, maybe someone else had experienced such same problem before?
