look for the folder /webskin/rule(nameOfRule)/execute.cfm and display***.cfm. In those there is probably a reference to <skin:view template="displayPageTeaser">. You can change that to be a displayTitle, and just check that there is a webskin for that either under /webskin/dmEvent/displayTitle.cfm or if it is a general display, in /webskin/types/displayTitle.cfm.
If you want to code your own new rule, then take a look at the reference for 'type' development, which is very similar ( http://docs.farcrycms.org/display/FCDEV50/UNIT+05+-+Content+Types). The general setup is the same, the difference being in where they are used and folder structure. Hope that points you in the right direction.
