Please raise an issue with the shortest set of steps to replicate the
issue.  Then let me know the bug number -- this sounds like a bug to
me. Anything that is time consuming that the computer could do instead
is a bad thing.

The relationships management should work exactly as you describe.
Let's make that happen as quickly as possible :)
