Interpolation allows you to set the computational options for sampling available in CFIMAGE -- see ColdFusion docs for details: http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/functions_h-im_39.html#5204573 Various interpolations will give you quality vs performance tradeoffs -- note that is a gross simplification but should suffice for pragmatic discussions.
