Also, is there something missing with Spiked setup instructions? I am using
IIS and I realise there is an issue with this, but where does one put the
.cfc for a farcry build? Do we need to edit/amend the web.xml file?
You don't need to download the .cfc, all you need is the two class files and the txt file which are all contained in a download linked as "FriendlyURLs FarCry Version" on Spike's website. The .cfc has been integrated into the FarCry_Core code.
The files from the download need to be saved in the cfusionmx\wwwroot\web-inf\classes directory (as documented on Spike's site). You then need to edit the web/xml file (as documented on Spike's site and Michael's response). Then run the updater and change the config values, bascially just set plugins/fu to yes and add your domains in the fusettings config and then reset all friendly urls for your site using the link in the admin tab (as documented on the farcry website). Then if you take a look at the latest FarCry_App code you can see how to set up your webskins to use friendly urls using the buildLink tag (as documented on the farcry website).
Maybe I am missing something, but its not very clear!
Hope that helps :)
