Thanks Brendan, that helps a lot. I had a feeling I was interpreting that variable wrong. I was mucking around with application.url.webroot hoping to solve another problem I am having. If you're using Friendly URLS and you view a page with images "Inserted" from the admin. The images appear broken. The friendly URLs are breaking the relative path calculation for the images.
