Is there any info on moving from spectra to farcry?
Any one done it? easy? hard? Or is it just as easy to start from scratch.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Daemon had one of the largest Spectra portfolios worldwide -- we still maintain and consult on several large Spectra implementations. FarCry thinking was influenced by the things we liked in Spectra (and I suppose also the things we disliked). Many of our clients have "upgraded" from Spectra to FarCry and we've become quite adept at the whole process.

Spectra and FarCry most significantly share a similar theoretical approach to content storage: the COAPI. It's possible to map Spectra COAPI objects direct to FarCry COAPI objects and write import/migration scripts to transfer just about any data. In fact, in the early-early days I even toyed with a fourQ implementation that just looked directly at a Spectra objectstore.

Also users coming across from Spectra have some familiar terminology and functions, for instance containers and publishing rules.

So I guess in answer to your question its very possible, has been done many times. And we're happy to offer commercial support for such an undertaking.
