It is my understanding that the Workflow component only JUST made it into
b200 of FarCry and that more work is (hopefully) planned to provide hooks
into workflow so we can interrupt the process for our own object types.

I note from looking at the Workflow component that as well as there being
a getNewsApprovers, there is a getObjectApprovers.

Maybe an alternative would be to provide an object type to
getObjectApprovers - although I am guessing there are just a few minor
differences between News and Objects that made the distinction necessary.

If each object type has different rules for working out who can approve
then maybe the basic types need to be extended with a "getApprovers"
method that can be specific for each type?

I don't know the answers here - just throwing more into the pot that Tom
is boiling up.

Just to recap a post I sent some months back......

The way in which I have imagined Workflow functioning in FarCry is as a
sub-system.

You would specify when designing/building a component, that workflow is
required and the workflow sub-system would then track that process. This
would include who can approve, what the approval process is (sequential,
round-robin, percentage approval required by group, if there are multiple
processes etc.) In fact, everything would be submitted for "approval"
even if you could approve your own objects - except the process would then
work out from it's rules that the state can be changed to "approved"
immediately.
