The more my site contributors work with Farcry, the more I am realizing that they simply cannot keep track of what mode they're in. It's not a fault of Farcry, they simply don't pay attention to details.
When I say mode, I mean one of the modes a Farcry editor can be in when they're viewing the site:
1. Draft mode & Cache Flush mode 2. Draft mode 3. Cache Flush mode 4. Cache View Mode (IE Public view) 5. Design mode
Use this in good health and by all means, if you come up with something better, pleas let me know.
Tom,
We've had plans since FOREVER to provide this type of visual. The little widget that is the menu collapsed... we've been planning to actually make that a composite of graphics that tell you the status at a glance and perhaps provide some tooltip info at the same time.
For instance, imagine it as a seris of little icons reflecting whether the cache is on/off, draft on /off etc.
Other things we want to show is if there is a draft object underneath a live object etc.
The float menu is the ideal place for this because it only pops up when privleges are right for it to do so and it sits outside of all the content.
Maybe we need to start with a document of all the things people need to see in such a mini dashboard display.
