Paul from Curtin Business School has a very large implementation using LDAP -- I think the code is fairly straightforward, however, as he rightly points out LDAP implementations vary greatly and so you need to fiddle a bit to map your schema.
We're still hoping Paul will write up a technote explaining the approach in more detail. But he's a busy bloke :)
