You should look at using the FarCry tree object (farcry.farcry_core.packages.farcry.tree) and the getDescendants (getAncestors, getChildren, etc.) methods. getDescendants takes an objectID (among other parameters). This should be the navID of the node you are currently on (which can be found in request.navid). Do some dumps on these to get a feel for what information is returned. I am finding that designing a navigation structure on the page is very subjective. There are some great hints in FarCry but generally I need to build my own for the template.
