Is there any locking mechanism on Containers when in design more? For example, what is to stop two users viewing a site logged in via the admin making a changes to a container at the same time?
Nothing at this time.
Containers, like any COAPI object can be locked. The problem is really the user interface for container management. The typical response from users is to simply close the window when they have finished. This leads to all kinds of problems in terms of executing some kind of onContainerEditEnd() clean up of locks.
It's something we've considered re-implmenting at some time but given that in several years we've never encountered a client report of container editor clashes, its not been considered all that important.
