Sounds like a ColdFusion mapping problem.
Do you have the /farcry/ mapping in place in CFIDE?
Do you have a simple "/" mapping and if so where does it point to? Depending on your set up this may cause problems. Remove the mapping and see if that helps.
If there is a DB error you will more than likely see this in the install -- it will fail reporting a permissions problem or whatever. This is the only time you need to drop tables etc.
What time zone are you in? Send us your contact deatils and we may be able to help you through this on the phone.

Below the line, you'll see what I had this morning. Although, it's probably all irrelevant now. I tried to do a clean install (dropped all tables, deleted the directory). (I didn't redo my webserver mappings, so maybe there's something wrong there.)
Now, though, I get nothing. When I try to go to the admin page, and when I try to go to the test application, the server just hangs. I tell ya, so far, I'm finding this pretty frustrating.

<system-path>C:/CFusionMX/wwwroot/applications/farcry_core/admin/</system-pa th> </virtual-mapping>
<virtual-mapping> <resource-path>/farcry_test</resource-path>
<system-path>C:/CFusionMX/wwwroot/applications/farcry_test/www/</system-path

Here are the exceptions listed in debugging: Exceptions

Do you have debugging turned on? Can you see any exceptions in the debug output? Can you tell us your webserver mappings?
