Gary,

Excellent, just quickly read though your ideas, I think you have most things covered.

I particularly like the emphasis on membership and community driven aspects and interested to learn more about your "portal" section and what you have planned.

Let me know if I can assist in any way.

Chris.

I was asked a couple of times during MXDU about whatever happened to the "Quick Tips" I was providing.

By way of explaination (rather than excuse) work pressures basically meant it sitting up on a shelf somewhere at the moment. I think there may have been a couple of pre-determined topics that I just have not had the time to write up.

Having said that, there was also some discussion at MXDU about a Developer's Exchange.

Now, even though my time is no better off than it was when the Quick Tips decided to take a holiday, I want to gather requirements about what a FarCry Developer Exchange site would need as I am considering building one - using FarCry of course.

I have thought that it would perform a number of functions as follows:

* Be another example of a FarCry site using the Aura template (suitably tailored for the DevEx of course)

* Provide as much of the site's templates and customisation as downloadable files/packages that makes sense (no intention of having the site itself be downloadable because it would not mean much without the data)

* Demonstrate all of the FarCry core types in some way or other (this could grow over time)

* Possibly provide multiple templates to view the site (at least two different nested menu examples)

* An "exchange" area where Developers can upload FarCry code (complete objects/features or just snippets)

* An "articles" area that any member can contribute to (no offence meant to the articles on the Daemon FarCry site or the Dev List - this would just open it up to more developers to publish things in a more permanent format than via the devlist)

* Membership driven (so you would need an account to upload/download stuff)

* Be a "portal" example of FarCry (where you can plug content into containers dynamically as a user - not as an Admin using the existing FarCry tools - this code would also be available on the exchange)

Post-Deployment Upgades.....

* The ability to "discuss" any "exchange" item via the Forum's plug-in (once it is available as a plug-in)

What else would people want it to do ?

At this point I am in requirements gathering phase. If I am inspired enough by what people want then I will probably build it myself. If I get to a point where I decide that I dont have the time, then I will feed all the of the requirements back into the group when they are complete.

You can certainly send submissions directly to my email address but it would be preferable if you posted back to this list.
