Does anyone think it would be a good idea to try using the open source program Image Magick (http://www.imagemagick.org/) to optimize and resize images in FarCry? It will allow the user to upload just about any format (.jpg,.psd,.bmp, etc. http://www.imagemagick.com/www/formats.html) and convert it to .jpg (or whatever you want).
We've been considering ImageMagick, as well as a variety of other choices. But if you want to leap in there by all means. I would suggest writing an imagemanipulation wrapper CFC that allows people to plugin their choice of image tool from a config file.
Might need some though on how that comes together -- we're happy to help. Ideally we'd have the hooks in the core and the image-engine anywhere the sys admins want.
