I'm looking at implementing LDAP as a User Directory for farcry - In the FAQ it says that it is supported but from a quick browse of the source code and looking at the Active Directory tutorial it appears isn't really implemented.
It looks like there are spaces to add this functionality (i.e. switch statements where LDAP cases can be added) but that the functionality is not included.
Mainly because every LDAP schema in our experience is different. What FarCry does supply is a security model that happily accepts authentication from LDAP and can map LDAP group information to FarCry roles. Abstracting it further has not been a high priority.
Admittedly documentation in this area could be a lot stronger. Typically this is a customisation we offer clients and haven't had time to define this for the wider open source community.
Can anyone confirm whether I am right or just missing something. Has anyone successfully implemented farcry with LDAP as the User Directory?
Yes several folks. Paul from Curtin might chime in with regard to their implementation.
