Hi,
Just thought I would share an idea with you all.
I have just implemented a Poll in a couple of Farcry sites in development.
My approach was to use as much of Farcry to do the work, as usual Farcry is more than capable of being tempted to do something a little extra. This is then very simple for site admin to add new polls as required.
I decided on Facts to hold my questions and answers setting categories for Poll Question and Poll Answers.
The answers are simply connected to the question by selecting the question from a dropdown list of all available poll questions.
Then setting up some display methods and rules Farcry can show the Poll where required across the site.
When the question is displayed, each answer has a link to allow for the recording of clicks using the standard Farcry stats code.
The beauty of using Farcry stats is that the full recording of information, including time, user and browser, is automatically recorded. This recorded data can also be used to prevent same user from voting more than once.
I hope to use the Farcry graphing routines to provide visual feedback to site admin and visitors.
hth, Chris.
