Generically tab and comma delimited files get saved as .csv (comma
separated values). Then when you double click the icon, excel does its
thing and formates it for you.

Though my colleges say tab delimited could go to .txt, but I would use
this for fix length fields.

I have been working on a few new export types for the export.cfm (Yes,
when
they are done I will submit them for review as a core upgrade). However
I
wanted some input from the list.

1. Should a tab delimited file be pushed to a TXT or an XLS?
2. Is tab the best format or does someone have other ideas, even to
choose a
delimiter from a pull down?
3. Is it beneficial to add a date range to the export routine?
