For now you will probably have to change the methods in FU.cfc itself, but that would break the rules of not changing anything in the core, so maybe we should allow it to be extended the same as types and rules.
I'm not 100% sure what it is that you want to do, but if I understand you correctly, I think it should be possible for us to add what you want to the core codebase. Can you give a more detailed explanation of what the issue is and what you want to do about it?
