Correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe he is trying to say that he is purposly causing the error for his example. What he's saying (if I understand him correctly) is that if he fills out fields like a Title and then makes an error on the something else (ex. The date fields used her) he should be notified of the error (which is working correctly) and not lose all of his form data that he's already entered. However all of the "correct" data he's filled out (such as Title) are now empty (data lost).
