Thanks, got away with not specifying a default and without dropping any tables. Woohoo.

Natalie,
You need to specify a date for the default. Or you may get away with
not specifying a default at all. What's happening is the container
object is being created and the system is rejecting "empty string" as
not being an appropriate date.
You may need to drop the table from the database and redeploy.
