My colleague has discovered the cause of the problem. Essentially the session information was not getting propagated via the cookie(s) even though all the settings were correct. It turned out that the problem had nothing to do with FarCry or the client settings (even more confusing was that the site worked in Firefox, just not IE).
The bug has to do with underscores in the domain name. We had an underscore in the sub-domain of the URL for the FarCry site. Basically, IE doesn't like underscores and there is some kind of a cookie problem where they don't get set, it is a known issue, see: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;316112 The fact that underscores cannot be used is a tricky issue and bound to arise again. Just don't get fooled into thinking that its in your code as we did. /Cody -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Cody Caughlan Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2004 12:59 PM To: FarCry Developers Subject: [farcry-dev] Re: Internet Explorer Problems Trying to Access Admin Jeff- Apps.cfm is: ### apps.cfm ### <cfscript> stApps = structNew(); stApps['farcry_test.domainname.com'] = 'FarCry_Test'; </cfscript> ### EOF ### Where "domainname.com" is the correct domain name. Gary's comment about Firefox might have been misleading. Firefox can SUCCESSFULLY login to the Admin interface. For obvious reasons this isnt completely acceptable, namely soEditor doesn't work and also the output of COAPI schema doesn't work. While getting around these issues and using Firefox is more or less acceptable, it seems absolutely crazy that IE doesn't work and Firefox (usually it's the opposite). Cookies have been cleared/cleaned multiple times. Cody, can you also post your apps.cfm file? btw: I had a similar problem once. It turned out I had corrupt cookies for that domain. I cleared my cookies and it worked. This is likely not your problem though since Gary pointed out that this happens in Firefox as well (corrupt cookies are rare, thus the chance for multiople browsers to get the same problem is unlikely). Still, its something to try if you want. -Jeff C. --- You are currently subscribed to farcry-dev as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aussie Macromedia Developers: http://lists.daemon.com.au/ --- You are currently subscribed to farcry-dev as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aussie Macromedia Developers: http://lists.daemon.com.au/ --- You are currently subscribed to farcry-dev as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Aussie Macromedia Developers: http://lists.daemon.com.au/
