You can't simply specify a new application.defaultfilepath in _serverspecificvars.cfm ?? If not, then that is a bit of an oversight.
I'd reckon it an oversight then as the core will currently overwrite that value if it's set in the project codebase. At first blush it looks like a simple fix in the core. If you'd like I'll fix this in the P220 and Head branches.
If the setting is done with CFPARAM... then anything set earlier shouldn't be overidden. Its an old var by the looks. Physical paths should be stored in application.path.*
But if you could put in a quick fix for HEAD and p220 that would be great.
