I've looked at ZOPE before and decided it wasn't robust enough for production applications. I also found it didn't seem to scale very well. However, I did not invest a lot of time to see if that could be resolved (I figure that something shoudl work well without me having to play with it too much).
So - that is where my comments would stop. As I was not comfortable with the platform in the first place. The only way (at least I have found) to really KNOW for yourself what the best solutions are is to do the investigative work and make a decision. If there is already an investment in one technology or the other (e.g. CF or ZOPE) then there may be arguments for staying with that platform. If the platform is irrelevant then I would not make the decision for the platform based on which CMS I thought was better (because if the platform lets you down in the future you will be screwed).
