yup, core java won't take that (it doesn't seem to like the datepart order) though cf will, so will our icu4j based i18n stuff.
parseDateTime converts it to a datetime object that core java *will* accept (though lsParseDateTime won't no matter the locale). isDate thinks its ok, but lsIsDate doesn't (no matter the locale). so...string rather than datetime object?
