All the building blocks are there in Farcry for developing your own ecomm site: content management, templating, DB persistence, categorisation, timed publication, content staging, content syndication, caching and more.
Personally, I'm don't see any generic ecom 'solution' worth providing on top of the above features which FC gives you already, as most of the time you'll just want to customise the rest anyway. On the other hand, implementing a generic ecom package on top of FC would definitely be interesting, but with projects like OSCommerce I don't see any great demand.
What useful generic functionality could you provide in terms of custom types, templates, admin pages etc?
