Hello, I'm proud to announce the first release of Farsight2. This is an early release and is not API or ABI stable. It may not be stable at all.
The two remaining features that Farsight1 has that Farsight2 does is
support for DTMF and a Jingle-ICE transmitter.
It is not API compatible with Farsight1, but can be installed in
parallel without problems.
It requires the latest releases of gstreamer,
gst-plugins-{base,good,bad,farsight} to operate properly and also I
strongly recommend gst-ffmpeg if you want to do video. You also need the
latest gst-python for the python bindings. See the included README for
the detailed requirements.
The only codecs I tested (and that should work) are H263 and H263-1998
for video and alaw/ulaw/speex for audio.
A general explanation of how it works is not yet published, but my LCA
talk[1] and slides[2] should give a good introduction. The API
documentation is included in the tarball in gtk-doc and is also
browsable[3].
