Hi All, It's with great pleasure to announce the birth of 'LinuxIran Linux User Group' (LILUG) on behalf of Roozbeh, Behdad, Aryan Ameri, Jalal Abedinejad, Arash Bijanzadeh and myself. Based on past discussions with Roozbeh, Behdad and the list we decided to found this first Iranian LUG on Thursday during our meeting in order to move things faster and to give our small but growing community a more formal forum to meet and coordinate necessary actions.
The initial tasks have been distributed between the members present at the meeting. We need to formalize certain things as there are the aims, meetings, membership and the like. The next meeting is planned for around ten days from now to exchange more information and results. I would like to see LILUG as integrated as possible in the activities of the FarsiWeb project, LinuxIran site and the FarsiKDE project, of which the latter will be one of the first actions of LILUG. We will inform you while we make progress and formalize the existence of LILUG. I am also happy to announce that with KDE 3.0 we seem to be able to type in Farsi with 'almost' no problems. Stay tuned for more details to come very soon. I will post also some information on how to compile and install KDE. I welcome the group of students from University of Tehran who hopefully will join our projects very soon as well. With high hopes for open source and a great future for all of us, Arash NOTE: I posted this email to three lists in order to reach out to more people. I request you to limit any follow-ups to the appropriate mailing list, i.e. LILUG to FarsiWeb and LinuxIran and KDE to FarsiKDE. Thanks! _______________________________________________ FarsiWeb mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.sharif.edu/mailman/listinfo/farsiweb
