Thanks to the help from Luca Deri, Jan Hapke,
Alexandre Maurel, and Andrew Olson, we have fixed
a number of serious bugs in the last release of
FastBit. In addition, we also add a small number
of features such as allowing strings to be used as
group-by columns and allowing wild cards to be
used in string comparisons. We has also started
a contrib directory intending to stored
contributed utilities and other programs. This
directory is initially seeded with a contribution
from Luca Deri and Valeria Lorenzetti called
fbmerge.cpp. We welcome additional contributions.

The new source tar ball is available from
<https://codeforge.lbl.gov/frs/download.php/135/fastbit-ibis1.1.5.tar.gz>

Please feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions or comments.

John

PS: Just came across something interesting in the resume of a Yahoo!
engineer <http://www.cs.unc.edu/~praveen/resume/PraveenResume.pdf> --
apparently, FastBit is being used to handle about 1TB of data a day.
The PDF file has a time stamp of 11/2/2009. Guess the information is
quite current.
