Greetings John, FastBit appears quite interesting, and I am keen to experiment with it. However the FastBit homepage also notes that it is covered by a 2004 patent.
Since your page appears to desire and encourage public use of the FastBit library, would you consider adding an Apache 2 licensing option? That is, in parallel addition to the existing BSD license terms, allow FastBit to used, at the user's option, under the Apache2 license. https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 has the full text. The Apache 2 license would address any patent concerns that otherwise inhibit adoption--it gives users of the library permission to use the library and derived works under your patent without risking legal trouble.
