Odd.  Still the arch of the binaries is minor.

There are two problems.  A minimal environment that makes a cool bootloader.
kboot.  kexec working.

Please test just /sbin/kexec under a normal environment and see how far you get.

There are success reports from the s390 guys that they have a slightly
modified kboot working in their 64bit environment.
