Hi folks,
I'm finally back after a rather long (LAC-induced) hiatus. :)
Those of you who are running Faust2 on Arch probably noticed that Arch
recently switched over to LLVM 3.6. While Faust2 already compiles fine
against LLVM 3.6, Pure doesn't yet, and you'll need the latter if you want
to use faust2pd and some of the other Faust-related packages on my project
page at https://bitbucket.org/agraef/agraef.bitbucket.org.
So for the time being we updated the AUR packages of Faust2 and Pure to use
the LLVM 3.5 packages available in the official Arch repositories.
Unfortunately, there are still some issues with Arch's LLVM 3.5 packages.
In particular, a few files (BugpointPasses.so, LLVMgold.so,
bfd-plugins/LLVMgold.so and libLTO.so under /usr/lib) in the llvm35 package
conflict with the llvm-libs package, which is still needed even if you
install LLVM 3.5 on Arch, because the mesa package depends on it. For the
time being, you can just overwrite these files, by performing the upgrade
with the --force option. E.g., if you installed Faust2 and/or Pure from our
binary repositories (cf.
https://bitbucket.org/purelang/pure-lang/wiki/ArchPackaging):
sudo pacman -Syu --force
Or, when upgrading directly from the AUR:
yaourt -Syu --force
(Also make sure that you reply with "y" when pacman asks whether it should
replace llvm with llvm35 and clang with clang35, otherwise upgrading the
faust2-git and pure packages won't work. If you'd rather keep the LLVM 3.6
versions of the conflicting files, just reinstall the llvm-libs package
afterwards: sudo pacman -S llvm-libs.)
Best,
Albert
