Hello,
A few of you are probably aware of a paper at smc 2015 where jari kleimola
and I proposed an API for VST style instruments and fx in the web browser
on top of the web Audio API using cross compiled C++ primarily for the
DSP. Now we have web assembly and the audio worklet has appeared in chrome
canary, things can move forward. I would very much like to get a Faust2wam
script working, which shouldn't be too hard since faust is already working
with WASM. I should really get on with other stuff, but if anyone would be
interested in collaborating on this work please get in touch and perhaps we
could do an IFC paper on it?
We have Iplug and juce plug-ins already cross compiling to WAM, although
these wrappers need a little bit of work.
We also need feedback on the API, since we haven't had too many eyes
looking at it yet and we want to do something that works for many different
use cases and gets it right from a plug-in developers perspective, since
as we know desktop plug-in Apis have often suffered from vendor control.

Best,
Oli
