Ah, that does sound interesting.

Actually, your message somewhat prompted a conversation with a friend a few days
ago about the current developments in CPUs and my understanding is that the
"Larrabee" family of CPUs (and other related efforts) will have (or are at
least supposed to have) a fast enough connection to their built-in GPGPU that
the -cuda/-opencl options might actually be useful in the semi-near future for
some DSP algorithms.
